Ronald is survived by his children: Ronald Jackson Jr. (Tammy), Jeffrey Jackson (Michelle), and Jennifer Proffitt (Mark); his grandchildren: Ronald Jackson III, Ethan Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Zachary Jackson, Emily Proffitt, and Matthew Proffitt; and his great-grandchild, Liam Jackson.

Gladys was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was known for her infectious smile, her kind heart, and her strong faith. Gladys was a lifelong member of Sandy Level Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in various capacities throughout the years including as church treasurer. She also had a love of music and was an accomplished pianist who often played for the church services.

Gladys retired from the Pittsylvania County School System after many years where she served as an administrative assistant at both Chatham High School and Gretna High School. She was a dedicated employee who took pride in her work and always went the extra mile to help others.

Gladys will be remembered for her unwavering love, her cheerful disposition, and her unwavering faith. She was a true blessing to all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home in Gretna. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Sandy Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joey Fauver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Robert (Bobby) Alexander Mebane, Jr. (Danielle) of Hurt, VA; daughter, Lisa Mebane Smith (Tony) of Concord, VA; one granddaughter, Ava Makayla Mebane; one grandson, Ryker James Mebane; and one sister, Patricia B. Johnson of Gretna, VA. She was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was predeceased by five brothers, James Henry (Sonny) Bush Jr., John Thomas Bush, Robert Edward Bush, Linwood Earl Bush, and Ronald Eugene Bush; and two sisters, Nancy Carol B. Davis and Carolyn B. Newby.

She taught at Gretna Elementary School, Brosville Elementary School, and Southside Elementary School during her career. She had a passion for teaching and loved working with her students. She also loved her grand-dogs, Bella and Lucy, dearly.

Brenda was a lifelong member of Red Oak Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She was the pianist for Mount Zion Baptist Church for many years. She also served on the Adult Usher Board and was a member of the Red Oak Grove Church Missionary Circle. She was a member of Gretna Chapter #106 Order of Eastern Star since 1972 where she served as Past Worthy Matron and District Deputy Grand Matron.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, VA, and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Carl Burger, Rev. Dr. Elwood Seals and Rev. Larry Owen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
