GS Pro leagues and tours have taken simulator golf to the next level for me (2024)

I’m pretty addicted to golf, and I’d be willing to bet that if you are on this website, you likely are too. It’s a wildly-gripping game we love and play, appealing at the same time to the one striking it well and the one struggling to find their swing. Whether you are new to the game or have been at it for years, there’s an allure to golf that supersedes any other competitive sport or game I’ve been a part of.

And part of what we want to do here at Proof Golf is showcase not only how to get your indoor simulator golf experience as good as it can be, but also to simply express how fun it can be to play this sport in what is a decidedly 21st century sort of way.

There are countless reasons someone would want to hit golf balls into a screen, and chief among those for most people is likely the convenience of the entire experience. It takes less time to groove a new swing thought, you don’t have to travel, you don’t have to worry about the weather, and you can practice on your schedule. The upsides are clear, but the experience can still feel very, very different than getting outside to play. However, the recent introduction of league/tour play here in the Proof Golf office has revolutionized what it feels like to play and compete indoors, and I’m here to tell you: it is freaking awesome!

So many GS Pro tours to join

While online play with GS Pro is amazing, it requires getting schedules synchronized and/or hoping that someone is around and available to play when you are. The times I’ve hopped into an online match, I’ve really enjoyed it; but tour play has taken all this to a whole new level.

From Par 3’s to scramble options to multiple competitive single tours, GS Pro has something for everyone looking to get a bit more involved with simulator golf. There’s a small, yearly fee of $80, but it is totally worth the seamless setup the folks at SGT (Simulator Golf Tour) have put together. Not only can you use the site to get entered into tournaments on a weekly basis, you can also see leaderboards, stats, rankings, and more after your rounds.

After getting involved over the past couple weeks, I simply cannot wait for each new course to show up for the week. Joe and I are playing in the Scramble Tour and the Par 3 Tour for now, but I’m considering getting into the SGT Tour as well. Handicaps are auto-adjusted, scores are posted immediately (thanks to a refined integration with GS Pro), and there’s just something special about playing a round that counts for something.

In the end, it’s still just an online tour, but adding this bit of competition has made our rounds each week feel like they have a bit of weight to them, and I can’t explain how much more realistic it has made the entire experience. From carefully placing drives to meticulously reading greens, the entire round absolutely comes to life during these tour matches and we’ve been having wild amounts of fun.

So, if you have a simulator setup and want to really elevate things to another level, SGT is the way to go. Their revamped website is awesome, the overall process for something this intricate is fairly simple, and the end result is a few rounds a week in your simulator that feel amazing to play. Look, I love playing golf in our indoor setup, but this whole tournament interaction has only made me love it so much more. I held out far too long before trying it, and I’m hoping some of you seeing this will learn from my mistake and get on a tour right now. You’ll thank me for it.
